The Polish Catholic Church in Canada was a dependent member church of the Utrecht Union of Old Catholic Churches .

In 2003 , the Polish National Catholic Church in the USA and Canada (PNCC) separated from the Union of Utrecht. However, the majority of the parishioners at St. John's Cathedral in Toronto chose to re-establish communion with the Union of Utrecht. It was subordinate to the Archbishop of Utrecht from 2005 to 2009 , but was looked after by the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Toronto, since both churches are in full communion with one another.

The disputes over the ownership and usage rights to the cathedral church , which are still claimed by the PNCC, is pending before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

In 2009 the Church rejoined the PNCC.
