Polyol esters , abbreviated to POE, are esterified polyhydric alcohols (alcohols with several hydroxyl groups ) that are used today in particular as lubricants for HFC refrigerants. These refrigerants have a multi-polar property and thereforedo notmix with mineral oils , or only to a small extent. A disadvantage of these ester oils is that they also have a high affinity for other polar substances, especially water.
