The Pongolapoort Reservoir ( English Pongolapoort Dam , also Lake Jozini ; formerly JG Strydomdam ) is a reservoir in the north of the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal in the Lebombo Mountains . Most of the lake is in the area of South Africa, the northern tip of the lake protrudes into Swaziland . The lake is fed by the pongola , which also forms the drain. The dam is at Jozini . Golela , Nkonkoni, Candover and Kingholm are other places near the reservoir.
The reservoir was originally named after the South African Prime Minister Johannes Gerhardus Strijdom .
