The Ponte Altinate is a Roman segment arch bridge in Padua ( Italy ). The late Republican bridge once crossed a tributary of the Brenta , which is now raised to form the Riviera del Ponti Romani road . The building is located at the intersection with Via Altinate , completely sealed off by the modern road surface.
The arrow ratio is 4: 1 for the main vault and 3.7: 1 for the side arches; the ratio between the clear width and the pillar strength is 5: 1.
Also located below today's street level is the nearby Ponte San Lorenzo , but it is accessible underground and is open to visitors at certain opening times.
