description

The Portnahaven School, completed in 1878, is isolated south of the A847 that connects Bridgend with Portnahaven. It consists of two separate buildings. The single-storey school building has an elongated wing running in north-south direction, from which a short wing emerges in the center in a westerly direction. The main wing is equipped with a total of ten windows, two of which are symmetrical on the front, four on the rear and one pair on each of the two fronts. Two red, wooden front doors lead into the building. These are placed in the corners between the main wing and the wing and represent individual entrances for students of both sexes. The wing itself has three narrow windows along the front and one on each side. Both parts of the building end with gable roofs . The building is made of quarry stone and finished with hewn cuboids at the edges.

The second building has two floors and is similar to the first in terms of design. There are five symmetrical windows in the front; another on the southern front. This building also has a one-storey porch facing west, on which the entrance door can be found on the side and a window on the gable side. Both buildings are covered with slate shingles.
