The Portomaso Business Tower (called Big Blue ) is the first and only high-rise on the island of Malta . He is in San Ġiljan (St Julian's). The building is 98 meters high and has 22 floors (the elevator goes to the 22nd floor, the ground floor is called “Level 0” here). The tower was opened in 2001 and has met with little approval from the local population to this day.

The roof and the antenna are illuminated in red and blue. At the foot of the tower there is a shopping arcade and a church.

When the building was constructed, the Hilton Hotel, which is in the immediate vicinity, and a marina were also built. There are apartments and shops at the port. The Hilton hotel has six restaurants, including the Blue Elephant , the most famous Thai restaurant in Malta. To the west of the Portomaso Business Tower is Paceville, Malta's most famous party district.

Various companies have their headquarters in the building, including the sports betting provider Tipico .
