Post rental containers

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A post office rental container was introduced on April 1, 1955 by the German Post Office of the GDR for mail items made of sturdy cardboard with a removable lid in various sizes, which could be borrowed from post offices to send parcels for a deposit of 50 pfennigs. The deposit was returned to anyone who left a PMB at the post office.

For Postage Stamp Day 2009, there was a special postmark in Radebeul that showed a type C2 rental container .
