Power and Data Grapple Fixture

Power Data Grapple Fixture (PDGF) are docking points used on the International Space Station (ISS) for the Canadarm2 robot arm and larger payloads. Using the PDGF, the Canadarm2 can grapple loads and move them around the station.

A PDGF consists of a flat base plate with a central pin in which the gripping mechanism ( Latching End Effectors ) engages. There are also three curved ramps, which are used for a fixed connection with the gripping mechanism. Four electrical connections enable the supply of energy and the exchange of data between Canadarm2 and ISS, or Canadarm2 and the payload.

PDGFs are distributed over the entire American part of the ISS and thus enable the Canadarm2 to move from one docking point to the other over the ISS. Larger payloads, such as the EXPRESS Logistics Carrier, are gripped and moved by Canadarm2 on the attached PDGFs.
