The Flütenberg is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxon town of Haren (Ems) in the Emsland district .
The nature reserve with the sign NSG WE 025 is 4.5 hectares . It is located south of the village of Emmeln, which belongs to Haren (Ems), and borders directly on the B 70 in the west .
The nature reserve is formed by a 12 meter high hill overgrown by a coppice of English oaks . The forest was used for centuries to extract tan for tanning . Due to the form of use, an oak kratt has developed.
The Flütenberg was an old courtroom where the Feme met in the Middle Ages .
The area has been a nature reserve since September 18, 1937. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Emsland.
