The Hengstkampkuhlen is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipalities of Geeste and Twist in the Emsland district .

The nature reserve with the sign NSG WE 187 is 40  hectares in size. It is located southeast of Twist in the Bourtanger Moor-Bargerveen International Nature Park and is part of the Bourtanger Moor . In the south it borders on the nature reserve " Dalum-Wietmarscher Moor ".

The area is a raised bog under protection, most of which has been peeled off . It is divided into two areas. In the eastern area are u. a. To find pipe grass and cotton grass . In the western, some area higher up, is moorland with moor grass and birch trees bloom before. In the north-west of the nature reserve, parts of the area have been cultivated as grassland , in the south-east there is a natural pond that serves as a resting place and breeding area for water birds .

The moorland drains partly in an easterly direction to the Ems , partly in a southerly direction to the Twister Aa .

The area has been a nature reserve since April 15, 1988. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Emsland.
