The heather mound near Groß and Klein Berßen is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxon communities Groß Berßen and Klein Berßen in the Sögel municipality in the Emsland district .
The nature reserve with the registration number NSG WE 007 is 9.1 hectares in size. It is located north of Klein Berßen on the edge of the Hohe Düne, an approximately 46 meter high elevation of the Hümmlings .
The area protects the heather area , in which the approximately 80 Bronze Age barrows Mansenberg are located. The heather areas are grazed with sheep to prevent woody growth. As a rule, the fenced-in tumulus heather is not accessible. However, it is easily visible from a dirt road that runs right along the border between the municipalities of Groß Berßen and Klein Berßen through the heath area.
The area has been a nature reserve since October 17, 1936. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Emsland.
