The still waters at Kluse are a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony communities of Kluse , Renkenberge and Lathen in the Lathen municipality in the Emsland district .
The nature reserve with the sign NSG WE 309 is 52.11 hectares in size. It is congruent with the FFH area of the same name . The area has been under nature protection since November 23, 2018. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Emsland.
The nature reserve, which consists of two areas, is located northeast of Lathen. It places several elongated still waters and their bank zones under protection, which were created by the unfinished construction of the Gleesen-Papenburg side canal . Strandling and dwarf rush communities with numerous endangered species settle in the waters. a. Flooding moor rush and multi-stemmed marsh rush . In the northern part of the area in particular, transitional and swinging turf bogs with Schnabelried communities and swamp ostrich grass , turf rushes and flooding bog rushes are formed. The waters are home to significant occurrences of frogweed . Pure white water cockfoot also settle here, swamp St. John's wort and pill fern . Oak forests grow along the banks on sandy soils with English oak and sessile oak . The nature reserve is the habitat of various birds , bats , amphibians and dragonflies .
The nature reserve is largely surrounded by agricultural land . Partly it borders on forests. The area is crossed in several places by public roads or farm roads.
