Power of Omens was an American progressive metal band from San Antonio , Texas that was formed in 1994 and disbanded in 2005.

history

The band was formed in 1994 and consisted of guitarist David Gallegos, drummer Alex Arellano and singer Chris Salinas. In early 1996 they recorded their first demo. Shortly thereafter, bassist Matt Williamson joined the cast. Work on the debut album then began. After another demo appeared in 1997, the band got a contract with DCA Recordings . After that, the band continued their work on the debut album, but the group separated again after a year from their label before the album could be released. In early 1998, the band signed a contract with Elevate Records and began recording the album Eyes of the Oracle . The album was released in June of the same year. Before the release, bassist Williamson left the band and was replaced by Henry Sanchez. In addition, keyboardist Andrew Sanchez was now represented in the cast. Various live performances followed the release. Unfortunately, after the first appearances in 1999, Andrew Sanchez left the band, which was followed a short time later by Henry Sanchez. The band then recorded a song for a Queensrÿche Tribute album, which was released in 2000 on Seigen Records under the name Warning, Raging Minds of Empires . Then bassist Chris Herring joined the cast. He made his first appearance on ProgPower USA in 2001, which should also be the first appearance without a real keyboard player. Instead, a sequencer was used. Then Elevate Records announced its bankruptcy, so that the release of the second album Rooms of Anguish was delayed. Towards the end of 2002 the band reached a contract with Metal Ages Records , so that the album was released in February 2003 on this label. In 2005 the band announced their breakup.

style

The band plays classic progressive metal, with the vocals reminiscent of Geoff Tate's ( Queensrÿche ).
