Presidential election in Mexico in 1952
In the 1952 Mexican presidential election on July 6, 1952 , Adolfo Ruiz Cortines ( PRI ), Efraín González Luna ( PAN ), Miguel Henríquez Guzmán (Federación de Partidos del Pueblo de México) and Vicente Lombardo Toledano (Partido Popular) competed against each other.
The official election result was:
- Adolfo Ruiz Cortines: 2,713,419 votes, 74.31%
- Miguel Henríquez Guzmán: 579 745 votes, 15.87%
- Efraín González Luna: 285 550 votes, 7.82%
- Vicente Lombardo Toledano: 72,482 votes, 1.98%.
The previous election campaign cast doubt on the omnipotence of the PRI. On July 7, the supporters of Miguel Henríquez Guzmán gathered for a victory celebration that was suppressed by the government of Miguel Alemán Valdés . The election marks the climax and the end of henriquismo and for this election the PAN presented a presidential candidate for the first time.
