Praetorial Front

As Prätorialfront or Praetorialfront in is archeology facing the enemy side of a Roman military camp called.

In most cases this was one of the two narrow sides of a fort at which the main gate, the Porta praetoria with the Via praetoria leading to the Principia , was located. The term Praetorial Front was coined very early, at the beginning of scientific research in the 19th century. Opposite the Praetorial Front, on the narrow rear side of a fort, was the Dekuman Front .
