Praesens perfectum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Hebrew, the Praesens perfectum is the use of the present tense instead of the past tense in the context of the past.

Example: yaktob - "he writes" instead of katab - "he wrote".

Strictly speaking, the verb is called "* yaktob" and is a narrative past tense from ancient times, which is identical to the present tense. Consequently, this is not a "real" occurrence of the present tense.
