Preethi Nair

Preethi Nair (* 1971 in the Indian state of Kerala ) is a British author of Indian origin.

She was born in the southern Indian state of Kerala in 1971 and moved to Great Britain with her family as a child . She grew up in London and after finishing school and training, she first worked as a management consultant before giving up this job to become a writer. Her first book Gypsy Masala was rejected by several publishers . So she started her own publishing company and PR firm called Nine Fish and published her book herself. She gradually became known under the pseudonym Pru Menon and managed to sign a contract with the American publisher HarperCollins .

She received the Asian Women Achievement Award for her work and was shortlisted for Publicist of the Year at the PPC Awards . The BBC bought the rights to a film adaptation of their novel Coriandergrün und Safranrot . Her latest book is called The Scent of Colors and is a novel-like representation of her life.

Preethi works for a number of newspapers, BBC Radio 4 and is an ambassador for the Prince's Trust , a charity for the Prince of Wales .
