Prize of the Historical College
The Prize of the Historisches Kolleg , also known as the German Historian Prize , is a German science prize.
The prize, first awarded in 1983, was offered by the Deutsche Bank Foundation in the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft as a German historian prize. It is awarded every three years. The endowment is 30,000 euros (as of 2019). The selection is made by a selection committee, which is composed of the board of trustees of the college and other members. The award is given to a historical work “that opens up new scientific territory, works beyond the boundaries of the subject and is exemplary in its linguistic design”.
The Historical College was established as a foundation in 1980. It promotes outstanding scholars in the field of historical research and awards research and funding grants for this every year.
