Ulinka Rublack

Ulinka Rublack (born April 14, 1967 in Tübingen ) is a German historian and author who teaches in Great Britain.

Life

Ulinka Rublack is a daughter of the Tübingen Reformation historian Hans-Christoph Rublack (1932-2006). She studied at the University of Hamburg and at Clare College at the University of Cambridge , where she received her PhD .

She has taught early modern European history at St John's College (Cambridge) since 1996 . In 2011 she was awarded the Roland H. Bainton Prize for History for her study Dressing Up: Cultural Identity in Renaissance Europe . In 2017 Rublack was elected a member of the British Academy .

She is working on an edition project for Matthäus Schwarz's costume books under the working title The First Book of Fashion . This also includes the exact reconstruction of one of his robes.

In 2019 she won, primarily for her book The Astronomer and the Witch. Johannes Kepler and his time , awarded the Prize of the Historical College . Rublack is considered to be the leading cultural historian of the Reformation and the Renaissance .
