Price question

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A price question (also a price assignment ) is a question whose correct answer a price is exposed to. The term is now more familiar from quiz shows and similar competitions where the answer is known to the questioner.

Instead, open price questions call for a more detailed answer to be submitted in writing. The submitted answers or the excellent answer are referred to as price script ( Latin scriptum praemio ornatum ). Occasionally, excellent work that was not awarded a prize on the basis of a prize question is also referred to as a prize font.

Prize tasks from academies

Above all, questions about prices from scientific institutions such as the Societas Jablonoviana are known . The Prussian Academy of Sciences put down 1744 regular competitions, which, among others, le Rond d'Alembert Jean , Johann Gottfried Herder (1770 and 1773) and Immanuel Kant were answered. By the beginning of the 20th century at the latest, the number of award questions in favor of other forms of scientific funding and communication decreased.

Women were also allowed to take part in the prize questions, so Juliane Giovane answered the question: "What permanent means are there to lead people to good things without external violence?" (1785) and was subsequently accepted into the Prussian Academy of Sciences.
