Preußen Lengerich (full name: Sport-Club Preußen 06 Lengerich / Westf. EV ) is a sports club from Lengerich . Between 1999 and 2002 the club belonged to the then fourth-class Oberliga Westfalen .

history

The club was founded in 1906 as FC Hohenzollern Lengerich . Two years later it was renamed FC Preußen 06 Lengerich . At the beginning of 1919 the next name was changed to VfR Lengerich . In 1926, the SV Rot-Weiß Lengerich split off, but in 1933 it rejoined the VfR. In 1939 VfR merged with TV 1879 Lengerich to form VfL Lengerich and from then on played with clubs from the Osnabrück region . After the end of the Second World War , VfL changed its name to TuS Lengerich and returned to Westphalian football.

The TuS Lengerich played in the 1947/48 season in the then second-class state league, but had to relegate. The club has had its current name since 1954 and, in 1955, managed to return to the third-class national league, to which it belonged for a total of nine years with interruptions. After the team was relegated to the district class in 1977, it went up again from 1980. In 1984 the Prussians reached the state league, in 1990 the association league and in 1999 even the Oberliga Westfalen.

Right in the first league season, the Prussians around striker Marcus Fischer achieved their best league placement with 13th place. In the 2001/02 season , the team rose again as third from bottom. Two years later, due to financial problems, he was relegated from the association league. The club withdrew its team and began a fresh start in the district league. In 2011, the Prussians were relegated to the district league A Tecklenburg and three years later managed to rise again.

In 2015, the Prussians rose to the state league and had to relegate three years later before the team was passed through to the district league A in 2019.
