Primary tone

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term primary tone has several meanings:

  • The almost inaudible primary tone (music) occurs when air flows from the lungs towards the larynx and makes the vocal cords vibrate. Only through the resonance spaces (nasal cavity, skull, etc.) is this amplified and audible to the outside world
  • Primary clay (geology) is found at the point where it was formed, that is, it has never been relocated by water or wind. See also: secondary tone
