Prince Mohammed

Prince Mohammed (also George Nooks ; * around 1958 in Kingston ) is a Jamaican reggae singer.

Life

George Nooks started his musical career in the church choir where he discovered his talent. He later gave concerts at his school, tried to establish himself in talent shows and landed his first hit with Forty Leg Dread in the 70s (As Prince Mohammed). Nooks emigrated to the United States in the late 1970s for a break in the music business.

On his two-pronged career, Nooks gained huge popularity in 1994 with his come back single, I Don't Care / Bad Minded People . He landed other hits and even managed to be in the charts under two different names at the same time (As Prince Mohammed with Forty Leg and George Nooks with Tribal War ).

In 1997 he received three Tamika Reggae Music awards in the categories of Crossover Artist, Outstanding Male Artist and Vocalist of the Year.

In 2001 his biggest hit to date God Is Standing By , which was recorded in 2000, appeared on the album of the same name.
