The Prince Rupert's Tower (also Former Lock Up ) is an old prison tower in Everton , a district of Liverpool . It is used in the Everton FC logo . The tower has been a Grade II listed building under monument protection since 1975 .

The tower is located in Everton Park on Shaw Street. It was built in 1787 as a prison for criminals and to lock up drunken troublemakers overnight. An early drawing (around 1800) of the tower by the English draftsman Herdman showed it as a round building with a conical roof in the middle of a cattle farm. Nowadays the tower is used as a tool storage facility for Liverpool city community workers. In May 1997 the tower was renovated by Everton FC for £ 15,000. He has been partially owned by the club since then.
