The Princeton University Art Museum ( PUAM ) is Princeton University's art gallery in Princeton , New Jersey . It was founded in 1882 and currently houses over 92,000 works of art from ancient to modern. The collection focuses on the Mediterranean , Western Europe, China, Latin America and the USA. In addition to Greek and Roman antiquities, including Roman mosaics from the excavations at Princeton University in Antioch , as well as European paintings from the early Renaissance to the 19th century, the approximately 27,000 photographs from the period from the invention of theDaguerreotype 1839 to the present. The Asia section contains a rich collection of Chinese calligraphy and paintings, jade jewelry and porcelain.

The architect David Adjaye will build a new museum building at the original location from 2020.
