Müllensiefen private cemetery

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Müllensiefen family's private cemetery is a private cemetery in Witten .

description

The Müllensiefen family's cemetery is circular and laid out according to the ideas of the Moravian Brethren . Inside a low wall there is a circular path, on both sides of which there are graves of the same size. The tombstones are uniform, simple and without religious symbols. The tombstones on the outer side of the path are embedded in the boundary wall. A mound was raised to the southeast of the cemetery. The cemetery is still in use.

history

The oldest burial was carried out in 1847. When the garden city of Crengeldanz was built , a house was only granted building permission after two changes to the plan. The Müllensiefen family was probably responsible for the planning changes, trying to prevent an insight into the avenue leading to their family cemetery.

The cemetery has been registered in the city's list of monuments since 2007 .
