ProLibris

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ProLibris is a specialist library journal published by the Association of Libraries of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (vbnw). The magazine appears quarterly with a print run of 1,000 copies and is produced by the Pomp printing company in Bottrop .

history

In 1996, ProLibris replaced the Association's newsletter published from 1948 to 1995 . The change of name was also associated with a conceptual reorientation. In the opinion of those responsible, the previous body of the association with a high proportion of special technical articles had become an “insider sheet” that hardly seemed suitable for promoting the cause of the libraries. For the new publication, there was not only a switch to A4 format, but also a more appealing layout with numerous illustrations and two-tone printing.

The journal Biblio , published by the state conference of the state library offices in North Rhine-Westphalia , which was previously tailored to the public library system in North Rhine-Westphalia , was incorporated into ProLibris . Therefore, the district governments of the state with their departments “Public Libraries” appear as co-editors of ProLibris .

Content and subscription

The individual booklet is usually 48 pages long. The content consists of numerous shorter articles, which can mainly be assigned to the headings "Food for thought", "Innovations", "Discoveries", "Concepts" and "Association".

ProLibris has been a paid subscription magazine since the year 2005, before it was included in the vbnw membership fee.
