Process polka

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The process polka is a quick polka by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 294). The work was performed for the first time on January 31, 1865 in the Sofienbad Hall in Vienna.

Remarks

The polka was written for the Juristenball in Mardi Gras in 1865 and was premiered on the occasion of this event. This also gives the title name. In this context, it is interesting to know that at the same time Eduard Strauss , the composer's brother, was involved in a defamation process that he later won. Perhaps this fact also motivated Johann Strauss to choose this title for this polka. Of course, even without Edward's trial, the title fits thematically well with the lawyers.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 2 minutes and 15 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
