Product data marketing
The term product data marketing describes a marketing strategy in which product data is automatically distributed to search engines or price comparison portals .
Product data are offered by online shops as export data in CSV or XML format, which list the product properties and can be imported into your own database by the respective search engine or comparison portal. The user then gets to the desired product on the online sales page that provided the data via the search engine or the comparison portal via a deep link .
Product data marketing is a discipline of search engine optimization and search engine marketing , whereby special programs ("feed engines") are used which automatically forward the data made available to the providers. Search engines and comparison portals place different demands on the data sets, which is why the data sets have to be adapted in terms of content and structure. This adaptation takes place, especially as soon as many different comparison portals or electronic marketplaces are to be served from a data record structure , by further optimizing the data passed on using product data optimization software. This is often offered as a software as a service solution.
