Alleanza dei Progressisti
The Alleanza dei Progressisti (Alliance of Progressives) was an electoral alliance of the center-left parties in Italy for the 1994 general election . The alliance was founded on February 1, 1994. Achille Occhetto from the Partito Democratico della Sinistra ran as the top candidate .
Members of the alliance were:
- Alleanza Democratica
- Cristiano Sociali
- Federazione dei Verdi
- La Rete
- Partito della Rifondazione Comunista (PRC)
- Partito Democratico della Sinistra (PDS)
- Partito Socialista Italiano (PSI)
- Rinascita Socialista
The alliance received 34.3% of the votes, 213 of 630 seats in the House of Representatives and 122 of 315 in the Senate and was surprisingly subject to the center-right alliance led by Silvio Berlusconi . After the lost election on March 27, 1994, the alliance practically ceased to exist. For the 1996 parliamentary election , the Partito della Rifondazione Comunista put up candidates in some constituencies under the symbol of the Progressisti , who were supported by the parties of the Ulivo .
