Prompting

Prompting (English for stimulating , prompt , prompt in) called behavioral therapy behavioral assistance (forming technology) to build desired behavior, which in the operant methods (Behavioral standard method) and in the category of learning (see also the concept of chaining can be arranged) .

The probability of occurrence of a certain behavior can be changed in operant procedures through the consequences (reinforcement) that follow (learning through the behavioral consequences ).

Prompting is a verbal or behavioral support provided by the psychotherapist , which is intended to draw the learner's attention to the desired behavior (target behavior) and which is conducive to this behavior (induction and reinforcement). It supports the learning process and is mostly used in combination with model learning .

Prompting includes, for example, demonstrating the desired behavior, verbal advice, reminding you of rules, feedback, affirmations. The aim is to break down problem behavior and develop desirable behavior in behavior therapy.

Indication areas are, for example, learning complex motor behavior, language acquisition or learning adequate social behavior .
