Pronouns universale

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A pronoun universale is a pronoun that can be used indeclinably ( i.e. in a single form) for all grammatical genders, cases, etc. Often it faces several alternative forms (the standard language). An example in the German language is the word wo , which is used colloquially in southern Germany instead of the declined forms of the standard relative pronoun der, die, das .

Examples:

  • The man, where is running there. instead , the man, the runs there.
  • The child where it says. instead of the child, which stands there.

There is also a parallel form in common Czech (a colloquial form of Czech ) with co (German was ).
