Prosenchyma ( Greek : Prosenchyma ) is the botany name for elongated, fiber-like cells with one direction ( anisotropy ). Examples are tracheids , tracheas and wood fibers . The cells are often lignified and serve both to strengthen the tissue and to conduct water and minerals.
