Provetá is a settlement in the southwest of the Brazilian island of Ilha Grande in the state of Rio de Janeiro . The place has approx. 3,000 inhabitants, who live mainly from fishing and tourism . Besides Vila do Abraão , which is located in the northeast of the island, Provetá is the second larger town on the Ilha Grande. Most of the citizens of Provetá are members of the Pentecostal movement Assembléia de Deus , which has been active in the region since the 1970s.
