Psychrotrophic

Bacteria that are frost-tolerant or cold-tolerant are referred to as psychrotrophic or psychrotolerant . Unlike psychrophilic bacteria, they can survive in a wider range of temperatures.

Occurrence

Psychrotrophic bacteria can be found e.g. B. in the refrigerator . Although they do not find optimal living conditions at 7 ° C, they can still reproduce. These bacteria show a higher rate of reproduction above 20 ° C.
