Pterygium

Pterygium ( wing skin ), from the ancient Greek πτέρυ = / pteryx = wing, designates an acquired or innate peculiarity in medicine, which is characterized by the formation of flight skin- like folds of skin or mucous membrane on various parts of the body.

The skin folds on the side of the neck between the mastoid process (mastoid process) and the highest part of the shoulder blade ( acromion ) are particularly common . This is called the pterygium colli . It is often found in people who have Ullrich-Turner syndrome .

Numerous pterygias occur in multiple pterygium syndrome .
