With pterygium syndrome congenital diseases with a combination of a wing skin (are pterygium ) designated by other malformations. If there are multiple pterygias, one speaks of multiple pterygium syndrome .
The pterygium syndrome includes:
- Pterygium conjunctivae , a vascular growth of tissue in the conjunctiva
- Popliteal pterygium syndrome with adhesions in the hollow of the knee
- Antecubital pterygium syndrome with adhesions at the elbow joint , frequency less than 1 in 1,000,000, autosomal dominant inheritance
- Dinno syndrome (contractures-pterygium colli-micrognathia-hypoplastic nipple syndrome), frequency less than 1 in 1,000,000
