Publicius Gellius

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Publicius Gellius , possibly also Publius Gellius or Publicola Gellius , was a pre-classical Roman jurist . After Sextus Pomponius , Publicius Gellius was one of the disciples of Servius Sulpicius Rufus .

Publicius Gellius comes from the Gellier family . His pronoun, on the other hand, is considered to have been handed down incorrectly, since Publicius is also a nomen gentile . It was therefore assumed that the name could be reconstructed with Publicola Gellius and that the lawyer therefore belonged to the family of Lucius Gellius Publicola and was possibly identical with his son of the same name .
