Publius Anteius Rufus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Publius Anteius Rufus († 66 ) was a Roman politician in the time of Nero . Anteius was consular governor in the province of Dalmatia in 51 . Four years later, in the year 55, he was to get Syria as a province, but was held there before leaving Rome. Nero hated him and therefore had Antistius Sosianus put him on trial in 66 . Allegedly Anteius is said to have been to the fortune teller Pammenes to inquire about Nero's future. He evaded his conviction by suicide.
