Publius Calpurnius Victor

Publius Calpurnius Victor was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 2nd century AD .

An inscription found at the Coriosopitum fort shows that Victor was the commander of the Cohors I Vardullorum milliaria civium Romanorum equitata , which was stationed in the province of Britannia at the time. Another inscription was found at the Coriosopitum fort, which was erected by the Tribune Calpurnius.

  1. The date of the EDCS is 71/200. The RIB dates the inscription later than 161 and probably 2nd century. John Spaul dates the inscription later than 161.
  2. According to the RIB, the Calpurnius named in the inscription ( RIB 1121 ) and the Publius Calpurnius Victor named in the inscription ( RIB 1128 ) are possibly identical.
