Pudding sample
The term pudding sample (in a figurative, not literal sense) goes back to an English proverb : The proof of the pudding is in the eating , translated as the test of pudding is that you eat it or that you try it freely by studying . What is meant is that the decisive test of a recipe, a device, a regulation or other new type of device is trying it out. The way of speaking has been found - sometimes with different ingredients - in several languages for hundreds of years (also in the quote Por la muestra se conoce el paño from Don Quixote ).
