Puente de la Mujer

The Puente de la Mujer (German: Die Frauenbrücke ) is a cable-stayed , rotating , pedestrian bridge over the Dique 3 port basin in Puerto Madero , a popular port area in Buenos Aires , Argentina . The 170 meter long bridge was designed by the Spanish-Swiss architect Santiago Calatrava . The port basins of Puerto Madero are no longer used by commercial shipping, but they must remain navigable. That is why the Puente de la Mujer was designed as a swing bridge. The superstructure is rotated 90 ° counterclockwise when it is opened; in its end position it rests on an additional support in the harbor basin.
