Puerto Padre

Puerto Padre is a city and a municipality in the province of Las Tunas in Cuba . The city is located in the northern coastal region of the province on the Puerto Padre Bay of the same name. In 2004 Puerto Padre had a population of 93,705 and an area of ​​1178 km².

The city is divided into the Barrios (districts) of Chaparra, Delicias, Estrada Palma, La Lima, La Yaya, Los Alfonsos, Maniabón, Norte, San Manuel, Santa Maria, Sur, Vedado and Yarey.

The history of the city goes back to the 16th century. From the middle of the 19th century, the first steps towards industrialization of sugar cane production and the refinement of the raw material took place with the construction of the first sugar cane press. Today tourism is an economic factor for the city and region.
