history
After the end of the Second World War , most of the private real estate owners were expropriated and transferred to public property together with state properties . Until December 31, 1957, the municipal housing stock in Freiberg was administered by the city council itself. With the spin-off on January 1, 1958, this area of responsibility was also transferred to a newly founded state-owned company in Freiberg. This was the hour of birth of the VEB Municipal Housing Administration Freiberg . From the start, the company was located at Beuststrasse 1. The company, which has since been renamed VEB Gebäudewirtschaft Freiberg , had its largest portfolio at the end of the 1980s with around 13,000 administrative units.
After the political change, the task was to transfer real estate used for residential purposes, which was legally owned by the city of Freiberg, to a privately owned company. With the articles of association dated June 22, 1992, the municipal housing company Freiberg / Sa. mbH founded. The city of Freiberg was 100 percent shareholder. The main focus of the company at that time was the comprehensive renovation of the acquired housing stock. In addition to state subsidies, alternative forms of financing were increasingly needed to finance the investments.
