Pump leather

Functional principle of hand-operated piston pump

The pump leather is a leather cuff and an early form of seal . It is used to seal the displacement in air pumps of all kinds. The pump leather is attached to the lower end of the pump rod. Today plastic or rubber is often used instead of leather . The pump leather can harden and partially or completely lose its sealing effect.

The handle pump also needed a pump leather on its piston.
