Punkt 3 (also spelled Punkt3 ) is a customer magazine of S-Bahn Berlin GmbH , DB Regio and Tourismus-Marketing Brandenburg GmbH for the Berlin / Brandenburg region . The magazine appears twice a month and provides information about changes to the timetable, construction work and travel offers. It is free of charge on the platforms of the Berlin S-Bahn , in travel centers and on trains operated by DB Regio.

history

In the mid-1990s there were a number of major changes in the rail network in Berlin and Brandenburg. Many connections were reopened or expanded after an interruption due to the division, and in many places there were lengthy construction works. Against this background - as a cooperation between the regional area Berlin / Brandenburg of the Deutsche Bahn, the S-Bahn Berlin, a little later the TMB Tourismus-Marketing Brandenburg GmbH as well as the punkt3-Verlag - a regular customer newspaper was created. The newspaper mentioned from the beginning point 3 is intended to inform travelers in detail about upcoming construction work and new offers. Its scope went well beyond that of other customer magazines in local rail transport in Germany.

A first test edition appeared on May 24, 1995. The paper has been published regularly since March 1996, initially monthly and from summer 1998 twice a month.

The name Punkt 3 is based on the original idea of having the newspaper appear as a fast information medium every weekday at 3:00 p.m.

The sheet is published by punkt 3 Verlag GmbH and is created in cooperation with DB Regio Regionalbereich Nordost, S-Bahn Berlin GmbH and Tourismus-Marketing Brandenburg GmbH. On the part of DB Regio, the editing was for years with the employees of the RAN team (“Regional Contact for Local Transport”, DB Regio department responsible for customer matters). In terms of content, the main focus of the sheet is, in addition to information on innovations in the offer and construction work, also railway policy issues, portraits of employees, experiences of passengers and references to commercial travel offers organized by DB Regio. The volume of issues grew from 16 to 32 pages (as of the end of 2012).

distribution

The Punkt3 magazine appears twice a month, usually on Thursdays.

The paper is distributed via displays on the platforms of 100 stations in Berlin and Brandenburg, especially the Berlin S-Bahn stations. It will also be distributed at selected hubs on the day of publication and will be on display on DB Regio trains. In addition, it is distributed as direct mail to households in individual changing areas of Berlin.

In 2005, the circulation was 170,000 copies, on special occasions such as the reopening of the entire Berlin Ringbahn in 2002 up to 800,000 copies. At the end of 2012 it was 140,000 and in 2016 it was 130,000 copies.
