Punky reggae party

Punky Reggae Party is a song by the Jamaican reggae musician Bob Marley and his band The Wailers . It was written inexilein London in 1977 after Marley was shot in his native Jamaica.

Marley got to know some punk bands like The Clash , Generation X and The Slits in London. He was also by Don Letts ' Dub - DJing in Roxy Club inspired and textual similarities between Marley and above punk bands the absorption of created Punky Reggae Party with Lee Perry on the set.

The almost seven-minute studio version was released on the deluxe edition of Marley's album Exodus , a live recording of a concert in Paris from 1978 can be heard on the live album Babylon By Bus ; Marley also played the song a few times on his 1978 tour, mostly as the penultimate song before Exodus . Both the studio and the live recordings are in the key of B minor .
