Punta Gallinas

Punta Gallinas is the northernmost point of the Guajira Peninsula in Colombia and the northernmost point of mainland South America . However, it is not the northernmost point of the Colombian national territory, which is located in the island province of San Andrés and Providencia .
The Cape belongs administratively to the Departamento de La Guajira . It is located in a very arid region far from larger towns; the nearest city is the Colombian Uribia about 100 km southwest of Punta Gallinas.
