The Puppet Theater Halle was founded in 1954 under the influence of Eastern European ensemble art in Halle (Saale) .

Venues

The Puppet Theater Halle has two stages designed for 99 and 81 spectators respectively. These are located in two former residential and commercial buildings that belong to the premises of the Kulturinsel Halle .

organization

From 1995 to 2005 Christoph Werner was the artistic director of the theater. This was replaced by Atif Hussein in the 2005/06 season. Christoph Werner has been in a leading position again since 2011, this time as artistic director. In 2019 the ensemble consisted of 13 actresses and actors. Of the 20,000 spectators annually, up to 5,000 are reached on tours abroad. Since 2009 the puppet theater has been part of the Theater, Oper und Orchester GmbH Halle .

The profile includes "[big] co-productions with the Wiener Festwochen , the Schauspielhaus Köln , the Staatstheater Stuttgart , the Volksbühne Berlin , the Opernhaus Halle [...] as well as small, globally successful productions such as Kannst Du pfeifen Johanna or Die Werkstatt the butterflies . ”The puppet theater cooperated on a local level with the Francke Foundations , the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina , the Talstraße Art Association and the Werkleitz Society .
