Pura Ulun Danu Bratan or Pura Bratan is an important water temple in Bali , which is dedicated to Shiva as creator. There are also Buddha statues inside the temple . The temple complex is located in the mountains at 1200 m on Lake Bratan. The lake is a volcanic lake near Bedugul , the waters of which are considered sacred. The temple was built in 1663 and is used for sacrificial ceremonies for the Balinese water, lake and river goddess Dewi Danu , who is a manifestation of Shiva's wife Parvati . Lake Bratan is an important source of irrigation in central Bali.
